The complexity of VAT in a changing economic world
VAT (Value Added Tax) is a complex matter: even if VAT was harmonized within the EU (European Union), all the EU member States have opted for special regimes and have local interpretations.
In an ever evolving context from an Economic (Digitalization..), VAT regulations are also very often late in order to take into account evolutions in the economic framework, which triggers risks of reassessments.
At a EU authorities level new regulations are discussed in order to change deeply the VAT law, as the reforms of VAT treatment applicable to the IntraCommunity fllows of goods or the One Stop Shop system for the Digital Services and distance sales (ecommerce).
